Reader,
This week in Morning Mindfulness with Joe, I taught two powerful methods for cultivating mindful presence.
The first is a chanting technique that activates and aligns your chakra system.
The second is a Zen-style meditation that promotes inner peace and mental clarity.
Just a few minutes of practice can deliver significant benefits.

chakra chanting
Use chakra chanting to feel more harmony, passion, and purpose.
This method works by activating and aligning your chakra system.
Chakras are focal points where spiritual energy meets our physical bodies. Picture them as gently spinning discs of light, each with their own color, running from the top of your head to the base of your torso.
When our chakras are active and aligned, we live with a greater sense of passion and purpose, and we feel more connected to both our humanity and our divinity. We feel more like our fullest and truest selves.
In this video, I start by briefly describing the chakra system, including the chakras' names, locations, and essential functions.
I then describe a few different methods for chanting in harmony with the chakras.
Instructions begin at the 5:28 mark of the video.
observing mental activity
This is a powerful method for calming your mind and feeling more peaceful.
I call this method "observing mental activity."
Zen Buddhists have a more poetic name for it. They call it “turning the light around.”
Normally, we shine the light of our attention onto physical activity: our bodies, people around us, our environment. We shine our light outward onto the world.
When we turn the light around, we turn our attention inward onto our mental activity. We shift attention from what’s happening in the world to what’s happening in our minds.
This can be difficult, especially at first. We're so used to shining the light outward, it can be hard to turn the light inward. It may take practice and determination.
The effort is worth it.
Personally, I've found this to be the most powerful method for easing mental chaos and feeling deeply at peace.
If it's difficult at first, don't worry. Stay with it. It gets easier. And the results can be profound.
In this video, I teach you the method itself. I also share a powerful trick for making the meditation easier and more effective.
Instructions begin at the 5:23 mark of the video.
